Associated with the planet Venus and lions, Ishtar was such a powerful deity that in retaliation for having been assaulted by a gardener while sleeping under a tree, caused huge storms and turned rivers to blood before hunting down her violator and killed him. What is more, in the Epic Gilgamesh when King Gilgamesh rejected her advances she released “the Bull of Heaven” (violence of the gods) to maul him. This powerful Goddess is also known by her Sumerian counterpart, Inanna.
